“Bagatelle for Violin” is based on Psalm 112, and is structured in a similar way (with a little alteration – I swapped the first and last sections!):
- A – Curse on the longings of the wicked
- B – Blessings of righteousness
- C – Blessings in adversity
- B – Blessings of being gracious and compassionate
- C – Blessings in adversity
- B – Blessings in righteousness
- A – Blessedness of those who delight in wisdom
The harmony in this piece moves very rapidly, sometimes lasting just one 1/8th note or quaver, and the melodic movement is more contemporary than the six quest pieces before it. Generally playable by any competent violinist with only a few passages that might be challenging.
- 2.5 minutes
- Unaccompanied violin – perfect for a recital showcase
- Facebook comment: “Very pleasant and soothing”
